Rod Loyola came to Canada from Chile as a child in 1976 and has lived in Edmonton for over 40 years. He is currently raising two young boys and lives in South East Edmonton.
Rod studied at the University of Alberta and graduated in 1999 with a Bachelor of Arts in Cultural and Economic Anthropology and History. He was on the Board of Directors for the Latin America Program Committee for three years. Rod has worked diligently as the Project Manager for Sombrilla Refugee Support Society for two years managing community development projects in Honduras, Guatemala, and Argentina.
Rod Loyola is concerned with the current policy changes of the UCP government in Alberta and has honed in on neighbourhood issues. Rod is focused on bringing his experience to local programs and projects.
Before being elected as the MLA for Edmonton-Ellerslie, he was the President of the Non-Academic Staff Association at the University of Alberta and volunteered on a number of boards and organizations.
