Early Provincial Election Right Around the Corner

By now I am sure that all of you have heard that eight Wildrose MLAs, including Leader Daniel Smith, have joined the Progressive Conservative caucus to be part of the governing party. We can all agree that it is a sham, especially considering that in the 2012 provincial election people voted for the PCs only because they wanted to hold the Wildrose at bay.

Members of both parties have now proven that there is no difference between Wildrose and PC policy, especially when it comes to cutting public services putting the economy before hard working Albertans. This begs the question: Why do some Albertans vote for the Wildrose? In my opinion, it is because they are a populist party that gives the perception that they are standing up for average Albertans.  This coupled with the fact that many Albertans don’t truly know the Alberta NDP and for what we stand.

Now more than ever, it’s up to every New Democrat to get out into public spaces and encourage debates on public policy and share our vision for a more economically viable plan that puts Albertans first. The time has come for each one of us to stand our ground and like Rachel says, make history. The time for the NDP is now if we want it badly enough.

An early election is just around the corner and I, being the nominated candidate for the Alberta NDP in Edmonton Ellerslie, am ready to fight hard to make it into the Alberta Legislature, but I can’t do it alone. Although we have a great core group of volunteers already working for the campaign we could always use more. Volunteer Today! Only a grassroots initiative is going to help us win in the next election and that is why we need you on board.

Let’s work hard together to bring the PC dynasty to an end and begin a new era of progressive politics in Alberta.

Always yours,

Rod Loyola
